Shopping and Bargaining (Part 1)
Survival Chinese — haggling for a scarf at the market.

周末,小美去逛市场。On the weekend, Xiao Mei went to browse the market.她看到一条很漂亮的围巾。She spotted a beautiful scarf.
“老板,这条围巾多少钱?”"Boss, how much is this scarf?"
老板说:“一百二十块。”The vendor said, "One hundred twenty."
小美说:“太贵了,便宜一点吧?”Xiao Mei said, "Too expensive — a little cheaper?"
“你要是真想要,一百块拿走。”"If you really want it, take it for a hundred."
“八十块,怎么样?”"How about eighty?"
老板笑了:“你真会讲价!九十块,不能再少了。”The vendor laughed: "You really know how to bargain! Ninety — that's my final price."
小美付了九十块,开开心心地走了。Xiao Mei paid ninety and walked off happily.在市场买东西,讲价也是一种乐趣。At the market, bargaining is half the fun.
