The Rice-Only Brother (Part 1)

我们wǒ men家jiā吃饭chī fàn最zuì麻烦má fan的de人rén是shì弟弟dì di。The trickiest eater in our family is my little brother.

除了chú le米饭mǐ fàn以外yǐ wài，他tā什么shén me都dōu不想bù xiǎng吃chī。Apart from rice, he doesn't want to eat anything.

除了chú le弟弟dì di以外yǐ wài，我们wǒ men都dōu喜欢xǐ huan吃chī鱼yú。Everyone likes fish except my little brother.

妈妈mā ma说shuō：“除了chú le米饭mǐ fàn，你nǐ也yě要yào吃chī点儿diǎn ér菜cài！”Mom said, "Besides rice, you need to eat some vegetables too!"

弟弟dì di说shuō：“除了chú le米饭mǐ fàn以外yǐ wài，我wǒ还hái喜欢xǐ huan吃chī鸡蛋jī dàn。”My brother said, "Well, besides rice, I also like eggs."

妈妈mā ma很高兴hěn gāo xìng，晚饭wǎn fàn做了zuò le鸡蛋jī dàn。Mom was delighted and made eggs for dinner.

那天nà tiān晚上wǎn shang，弟弟dì di吃chī了le鸡蛋jī dàn，还hái吃chī了le一点儿yī diǎnr鱼yú！That night, my brother ate the eggs — and even a little fish!

爸爸bà ba笑着xiào zhe说shuō：“除了chú le鸡蛋jī dàn以外yǐ wài，你nǐ今天jīn tiān还hái吃chī了le鱼yú！”Dad laughed and said, "Besides eggs, you ate fish today too!"

弟弟dì di说shuō：“鱼yú没有méi yǒu我wǒ想xiǎng的de那么nà me难吃nán chī。”My brother said, "Fish isn't as bad as I thought."

现在xiàn zài除了chú le很hěn辣là的de菜cài以外yǐ wài，弟弟dì di什么shén me都dōu吃chī！Now he eats everything — except really spicy food!
