Taking a Taxi (Part 1)
Survival Chinese — hailing a cab and getting there on time.

李明要去火车站,时间不多了。Li Ming needed to get to the train station, and time was short.他在路边叫了一辆出租车。He hailed a taxi at the roadside.“您好,去火车站。”"Hello — to the train station, please."
司机问:“走大路还是走小路?”The driver asked, "Main road or side streets?"
“哪个快走哪个,我是十点的火车。”"Whichever is faster — my train is at ten."路上有点堵,司机换了一条路。Traffic was a bit heavy, so the driver switched routes.
李明问:“大概要多少钱?”Li Ming asked, "About how much will it be?"
司机说:“三十块左右。”The driver said, "Around thirty yuan."到了火车站,一共二十八块。At the station, the total was twenty-eight.李明付了钱,说了声谢谢,跑向车站。Li Ming paid, called out his thanks, and ran for the station.
